Crystal's entrepreneurial path began with a desire to supplement her mission trips to Jamaica, a passion she pursued for 21 years. What started as a way to fund her travels evolved into a full-fledged business after a significant life change in 2020. As an independent contractor with a faith-based host agency, she found the perfect blend of autonomy and support. "I love people, I love God, and I love to travel," Crystal shares, highlighting how her business allows her to integrate all three.
For Crystal, living her faith in daily operations isn't a separate endeavor; it's the very core of who she is. "I don't know how you read the word of God and believe that in your heart and not live it in every avenue," she states. Having been saved at a young age and guided by strong role models, her faith is a relationship, not just a belief. This deep-seated conviction means she's committed to doing the right thing, regardless of popularity or cost. "Whether it's popular or expensive to me, I'm going to do it because it's the right thing to do."

When setting annual goals, Crystal dedicates two to three days to prayerful review, analyzing past performance and envisioning future growth. She meticulously tracks administrative tasks, training, and client service, constantly reevaluating and sharpening her best practices. Her inspiration? The Disney model: always rolling out new things, never staying the same, and adapting to people's needs. "You have to track it at least weekly," she emphasizes, recognizing that without consistent monitoring, it's easy to get sidetracked.
One of Crystal's most profound insights is the importance of slowing down. In the fast-paced travel industry, unexpected issues like flight cancellations can cause immense stress for clients. Crystal admits that these situations used to panic her, but she's learned to approach them differently. "Wait a minute, I got the tools. This is what I'm here for," she realized. Instead of stressing, she slows down, explains the systems, and advocates for her clients. "They need somebody in their corner advocating for them and having the answers that they haven't spent the hours" researching themselves.
This "people first" philosophy extends to her financial decisions. Unlike some travel agents who charge various fees, Crystal chooses not to. "I want to be a service," she explains. She once found a travel package for a high-end client that was $20,000 less than a previous option, solely due to an airline contract. Despite the potential for higher commission on the more expensive package, she advised her client to take the cheaper option. "I cannot give my clients what I wouldn't give myself," she asserts. This integrity, though it might mean less immediate income, builds invaluable trust and long-term relationships.
Crystal's advice to other Christian business leaders is clear and powerful: "Do not apologize for who you are and how you do business." She encourages leaders to embrace their unique niche and values, rather than trying to be everything to everyone and watering down their identity. "Live your faith boldly," she urges, confident that the right clients will be drawn to authentic, faith-driven service. By vetting clients just as they vet her, Crystal ensures a harmonious and mutually beneficial relationship built on shared values and a commitment to excellence.
