Faith-Driven Leadership: Navigating Business with Purpose and Principle

In a world often driven by profit and power, Apryl M. Morin, M.OD., stands as a beacon of faith-driven leadership, demonstrating how unwavering principles can guide business decisions and foster true transformation. As a consultant and COO of Eduquencher, Apryl's journey is a testament to the profound impact of integrating one's faith into every aspect of professional life.

Apryl's extensive background in education, culminating in roles as a Superintendent overseeing numerous charter schools, provided her with a unique vantage point on the challenges and opportunities within organizational structures. It was during this time that she recognized a critical gap: the lack of effective strategic planning and the need for a more holistic approach to leadership. This realization, coupled with a traumatic experience involving the closure of a large e-school, propelled her into the consulting realm. "That decision that they made retroactively caused me to leave," Apryl shares, highlighting a pivotal moment where her faith compelled her to disassociate from practices that did not align with her values. This experience underscored the importance of ethical decision-making and the profound responsibility leaders hold, especially when their choices impact countless lives.

Integrating Faith into Professional Practice

Now, through her company, Harbor Light Strategies, Apryl dedicates her expertise to helping organizations, particularly schools, achieve operational excellence while deepening their spiritual foundation. Her vision is to create a niche for private school leaders, offering them edification and support that marries data-driven insights with a Christ-centered approach. "My thought is I could marry the two with doing my kind of school consulting work where I can help look at data and do some of those things and culture and different things, operations at the school level, but also be having them be deepening their relationship with Christ," she explains. This integrated approach reflects her belief that true success encompasses both practical efficacy and spiritual growth.

Apryl's daily life is intentionally structured around her faith. Daily devotions, scripture reading, prayer, and joint devotions with her husband and daughter are non-negotiable. This consistent spiritual nourishment serves as her anchor, ensuring that her core values, rooted in biblical principles, remain at the forefront of her decisions. When faced with complex business challenges, her first recourse is prayer, seeking divine guidance to navigate intricate situations.

Impact Through Purposeful Leadership

Her faith profoundly shapes where she invests her time, talent, and resources. Recognizing her strengths in strategic planning, operations, and providing insightful input, Apryl has intentionally shifted from a 'frontward-facing' leadership role to a 'backwards-facing' one. "I'm better at like getting organizations cleaned up and doing strategic planning operations, giving input, those type of things," she notes. This self-awareness allows her to leverage her talents most effectively, providing leaders with the tools and perspectives they need to lead with integrity. Her goal is to move into a marketplace ministry position, offering more godly counsel than operations, recognizing that true transformation extends beyond mere compliance.

For other Christian business leaders, Apryl offers a powerful piece of advice: "Surround yourself with people that edify you and people that are continually building your spirit and your integrity within the organization so that you're making all decisions within a godly frame." This emphasis on community and accountability underscores the importance of having a supportive network that reinforces one's faith and helps maintain a Christ-centered perspective amidst the pressures of business. In a world that often demands compromise, Apryl Morin exemplifies how faith can be the ultimate compass, guiding leaders toward decisions that honor God and foster lasting impact.
