Building Beyond Blueprints: Jonathan Saint-Fort on Faith, Stewardship, and Kingdom Impact in Construction

Jonathan Saint-Fort, Founder of Buildwise Solutions, doesn't just build structures; he builds people, relationships, and a company culture that reflects God's heart. His journey into entrepreneurship wasn't a grand plan, but a series of faithful 'yeses' to divine nudges, transforming small opportunities into a thriving business.

"My construction company began at a time when I felt God quietly shifting my direction," Jonathan shares. What stirred in him was a desire to bring honesty, quality, and integrity to an industry where these values are often overlooked. He felt God prompting him to trust the next step, not to orchestrate everything himself. The business grew not from a meticulously crafted strategy, but from consistent obedience, taking risks, and believing that if God was leading it, He would sustain it. This journey, which began with a quiet stirring, escalated into a clear call. Once he fully surrendered, doors began to open rapidly, a testament to God's provision.

Building on Faith and Obedience

Buildwise Solutions specializes in general contracting, including remodeling, tenant improvements, and capital projects. While they serve residential clients, Jonathan's focus is on colleges and universities, particularly private Christian institutions like Azusa Pacific University, which gave him his first significant opportunity. He's now building relationships with Chapman, Claremont, and Biola Universities, expanding his reach and impact.

A cornerstone of Buildwise Solutions is empowering subcontractors. Jonathan views them not as disposable labor, but as true partners. "Practically, that looks like paying fairly, communicating clearly, giving them opportunities to expand their skill sets, and treating them as true partners," he explains. He aims for their spiritual, professional, and financial success, understanding that when they grow, their families and futures expand. For Jonathan, stewardship extends beyond what God places in his hands; it's about helping others steward what God has placed in theirs. This approach reflects a Kingdom heart: lifting people up, honoring their dignity, and seeing them as God sees them. "It’s important to me that anyone who works with us walks away better than when they came."

Leadership Grounded in Faith

In the often stressful, unpredictable, and fast-paced world of construction, Jonathan's relationship with God grounds him daily. "It reminds me that the people I’m leading are more important than the projects we're building," he says. He leads with patience, humility, and clarity, acknowledging that everyone brings their own pressures to the job site. When problems inevitably arise, he pauses, seeks God's wisdom, and makes decisions based not just on profitability, but on fairness, honesty, and long-term integrity. "The way I treat people is ultimately the greater testimony. My goal each day is to bring peace, stability, and compassion into an environment where that’s not always the norm."

Jonathan recalls a pivotal moment when his faith redirected him from a major project that promised significant revenue but "didn't sit right in my spirit." Despite the financial appeal, he obeyed the inner prompting to walk away. Not long after, issues emerged with that client that would have led to major legal and financial complications. "God was protecting me before I even realized it," he reflects. This experience taught him that obedience doesn't always feel logical in the moment, but God sees what we cannot. Trusting Him, even when it comes at a perceived cost, always leads to better outcomes than anything he could arrange on his own.

Another instance highlighted the importance of integrity. Collaborating with a business partner on a large project, Jonathan's partner suggested a dishonest approach to secure the contract. Jonathan refused, stating, "I will never lie to get a job." He severed ties with the project, prioritizing honesty over profit. This decision, though it meant walking away from a seven-figure project, brought him peace and reinforced his commitment to ethical business practices. "I don't believe in ripping people off. I don't believe in gouging the client. I don't believe in being dishonest for your gain. I don't think that's fair, and I don't think that's right."

Kingdom Generosity and Long-Term Impact

Generosity is a core value at Buildwise Solutions, reflecting God's character through acts like helping families in need, supporting local ministries, and hands-on community projects. "Giving back keeps our company aligned with a purpose bigger than profit," Jonathan states. Internally, generosity strengthens company culture, fostering gratitude. Externally, it builds relationships, trust, and opportunities to uplift those most in need. "I see every act of service as planting a seed in someone else’s life. Seeds God can multiply far beyond what we see." He remembers his own childhood, where small acts of kindness made a profound difference, inspiring him to be that person for others. "Money is a tool, but it's a tool that I believe can really bring happiness depending on how it's used."

For fellow Christian entrepreneurs, Jonathan offers simple encouragement: "Don't separate what God never intended to separate. Your faith isn't something you leave at the door of your workplace. It’s the foundation that gives your work meaning and direction." He emphasizes that honoring God doesn't require preaching sermons, but leading with integrity, treating people with genuine care (even if not reciprocated), and making decisions that reflect righteousness over convenience. "Bring peace where there is tension, and humility where there is ego." Most importantly, he advises staying sensitive to God's voice, even in the busyness. "If you trust Him with your business, He will guide you, protect you, and open doors no strategy could ever create."

Jonathan's story is a powerful testament to the transformative impact of integrating faith into every aspect of business. His faithfulness, stewardship, and commitment to Kingdom impact are not just principles; they are the living blueprint of Buildwise Solutions.
