Keinan Johnson, the visionary behind KeiStone Kollective, embodies a powerful truth: when God moves, the only response is a resounding ‘yes.’ His journey from a college dorm room dream to leading a thriving organization that cultivates communities and empowers leaders is a testament to unwavering faith, strategic submission, and the undeniable favor of God.
Keinan’s entrepreneurial spirit ignited in college, fueled by frustration with traditional career paths. A pivotal moment, a month and a half in the hospital, became a crucible for his faith. “I was just asking God, number one, I hope I live. Number two, what is the legacy or what is it that I’m supposed to be here on earth doing?” This profound question led to a vision of helping and inspiring people through digital platforms. What began as K. John’s Consulting Group quickly gained momentum, culminating in a remarkable opportunity to present his nascent business to industry titans like Mark Cuban and T.I. at a Black Enterprise conference. This, he readily admits, was a “God moment.”
Yet, rapid growth was followed by an equally swift setback. Still in college, with limited management experience, his initial venture faltered. But Keinan’s faith, rooted in the scripture “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you,” provided the bedrock for his resilience. He learned to submit his will, trusting God’s plan even when circumstances seemed dire. A powerful example of this submission came after leaving a corporate job: his car was repossessed the same week. In that moment of profound vulnerability, on his face in prayer, he heard God’s call. Almost immediately, a mentor offered clients, reigniting his business and setting him on the path to KeiStone Kollective.
KeiStone Kollective, now in its third year of full-time operation, has evolved into an organization with three core pillars: motivating membership bases to feel seen, heard, and valued; elevating organizational leaders as change-makers; and invigorating board members to be powerful advocates and donors. This evolution, far from his initial hospital-bed dream, is a testament to God’s expansive vision, which often exceeds our own.
Keinan’s faith isn’t just a Sunday affair; it’s woven into the fabric of his daily life and business decisions. He intentionally seeks God’s guidance in all matters, even the seemingly small ones. This intentionality extends to his philanthropic endeavors, where he serves on committees like the Goodfellows, fighting homelessness, and dedicates his time to collegiate institutes, mentoring young men. His commitment to social impact, rooted in his childhood passion for politics and messaging, demonstrates how his faith informs his use of time, talent, and treasure.
His advice to his younger self, and to aspiring Christian business leaders, echoes the wisdom of a mentor: “God has given everybody something special. God has given everybody a gift. It is our job to cultivate it and to build it and to allow it to grow so that it can be a blessing to others, not only to ourselves, but a blessing to others and impact others.” He encourages early cultivation of these gifts, emphasizing that time is on your side to learn, grow, and even make mistakes.
Keinan’s life is a living illustration of divine favor in action. He recalls a moment when, on a plane to Ghana, he received a text inviting him to move to D.C. to learn from a mentor. Despite the logistical challenges, his immediate response was ‘yes,’ knowing it was an answer to years of prayer. This willingness to submit and give God room to move has unlocked a level of favor that is “so unfair to some others.” It’s a favor that comes from walking in alignment with God’s will, trusting that He will orchestrate the details when we simply say ‘yes.’
Keinan Johnson’s journey with KeiStone Kollective is a powerful reminder that surrendering our will to God’s, embracing His expansive vision, and responding with a humble ‘yes’ to His promptings can lead to a life of profound impact, purpose, and undeniable favor.
