Diane Jung's story is a testament to unwavering faith, relentless work ethic, and the courage to forge a path in a male-dominated business landscape. Born and raised in Korea, Diane's journey took a significant turn when she moved to Canada at a young age, where she found Christ and was baptized. This pivotal experience laid the foundation for a life guided by spiritual principles, even as she navigated demanding professional environments.
After 11 transformative years in Canada, a prophetic instinct from her father called her back to South Korea just weeks before the global COVID-19 pandemic hit. This unexpected return thrust Diane into a new season of adaptation and self-reliance. With her father's support for her education now ceased, Diane embraced various roles, including remotely teaching children, before a headhunter's call led her to a unique opportunity with Ford Motor Company. In this role she translated complex technical documents and facilitated communication between Korean and American engineers on a battery plant installation project in the US – a challenging feat given her non-engineering background.
Working in a predominantly male environment, particularly within the Korean business culture, presented its own set of hurdles. Diane candidly shares the struggles of being undervalued and the emotional toll of navigating such dynamics. However, these experiences ignited a fierce determination within her to be seen as an equal and to create an environment where women are treated with dignity. Her faith became her anchor, reminding her of her identity as a 'child of God' amidst the pressures and mistreatment.
The culmination of her experiences, both professional and personal, has led Diane to an exciting new venture: designing an innovative app for Korean business and tourism. This app is more than just a platform; it's a reflection of her desire to connect global believers, offer spiritual encouragement, and provide unique, faith-centered experiences in Korea. The app aims to integrate travel agency functionalities, translation services, and even psychoanalysis tools to help users manage stress and emotional well-being – a nod to her background in psychology. She envisions a seamless experience for Christian leaders and individuals to explore Korea, engage in spiritual fellowship, and even facilitate tithing through integrated payment systems like PayPal.
Diane's journey is a powerful narrative of resilience. From the cultural shifts of living abroad to the personal loss of her father and the professional challenges of a demanding career, her faith has been the constant guiding force. She emphasizes that even in the 'wilderness' of mistreatment and uncertainty, God's sovereign presence can be trusted. Her advice to those hesitant to step out in faith is profound: "Know the reason. Knowing your reason is the first step towards facing it, and facing it makes you think differently. And when you think differently, you behave differently."
Today, Diane is happier than ever, focusing on God's perspective for her life and diligently working on her app. Her story is an inspiring example of how personal trials can be transformed into opportunities for innovation, service, and a deeper walk with faith.
