The Righteous Path: Surrendering to Your Divine Calling in Business

In a world constantly pushing for self-reliance and control, the concept of surrender can feel counterintuitive, especially in the demanding realm of business. Yet, for Adam Jarosz, founder of Righteous Co., surrendering to a higher calling has been the bedrock of his entrepreneurial journey, transforming a college project into a thriving enterprise dedicated to forming productive and faithful men.

Adam's path wasn't a straight line. From a young age, he embraced a "yes" mentality to divine promptings, starting in youth ministry and navigating a decade in culinary arts. Despite reaching the pinnacle of fine dining at Disney's Victoria and Albert's, an emptiness persisted. The demanding culture, where chefs were expected to "marry their work," clashed with his deepest desire: to be a successful husband and father. This pivotal realization led him to step away, seeking a different kind of fulfillment.

The initial iteration of Righteous Co. was an event planning venture, born from a desire to serve and a youthful "all righteous" enthusiasm. A significant financial loss on a paintball event, however, became a crucial lesson. "If I'm going to start building businesses, I should probably learn how to actually run a business," he reflected, leading him back to school for entrepreneurship.

Simultaneously, Adam transitioned into full-time ministry, and Righteous Co. evolved. What began as a web design service for churches, aimed at better engaging the younger generation, soon shifted. Adam realized his passion wasn't in building websites, but in serving people and fostering leadership. This led to the current iteration of Righteous Co., a culmination of his leadership experience, content creation, and a deep desire to serve.

The Power of Coaching and Iron Sharpening Iron

Righteous Co. now serves two distinct segments: ministry leaders and men, specifically focusing on transforming the "productive and faithful man." This mission is deeply rooted in the principle of coaching, which Adam discovered through a cousin's recommendation. He pursued training in professional Christian coaching and finance coaching, recognizing the transformative power of guiding individuals to new perspectives.

Central to Righteous Co.'s men's segment, "Iron Ore," is the Proverbial wisdom: "Iron sharpens iron." Adam views this not just as a catchy phrase, but as a profound metaphor for spiritual formation. "We are the instrument, we're the weapon of our blacksmith," he explains, referring to the heat of God's presence and the hammerings of life's challenges that refine us for a divine purpose. This formation is not about doing something different, but about transforming the soul and living a life of great purpose.

Righteous Co. embodies this through one-on-one coaching and wilderness retreats, replicating Jesus' example of retreating to refresh and collect oneself. "Before he had gone and done great things, he took a break... he was giving the example to not only the apostles, but to us," Adam notes. This intentional time for reflection and spiritual renewal is a cornerstone of their approach, empowering men to embrace their calling and make disciples.

A Leap of Faith: Trusting in the Unseen

Adam's faith is not merely a guiding principle; it's the very fabric of his business. "We are foundationally a Jesus-centered business," he states, emphasizing that while they operate as a business to make a profit, the ultimate goal is to transform those earnings into advancing their mission. This commitment is evident in daily practices, from intentional prayer blocks in his calendar to praying for clients and seeking divine guidance in every decision.

A powerful testament to this trust came during a challenging period at his church. Faced with budget cuts and the potential need to let go of staff, Adam found himself at a crossroads. During a prayer night, a profound internal vision emerged: a "crown of iron" offered by the Lord. This was a direct call to take Righteous Co. full-time, a leap of faith that would allow him to mentor and retain employees under his new venture, rather than letting them go.

"Lord, I'll take whatever it is that you give me," he prayed, and in that moment, a third option, previously unseen, became clear. He mapped out a plan on a W2 form, presented it to his pastor, and embarked on a journey that would not only save jobs but also allow Righteous Co. to flourish into the vision he had always held. "Because of trusting in Him in that moment, we're able to take Righteous Co. not only full time, but now it starts to look exactly how I had dreamed it would fully look."

Surrender: The Key to Unlocking Your Business's Divine Potential

For other Christian business leaders, Adam's advice is simple yet profound: surrender. "Simply surrendering over your business to him... There is no better hands to put the work of your hands into," he encourages. This isn't about abandoning responsibility, but about relinquishing control and trusting that God will guide and bless your efforts.

He challenges leaders to hold nothing back, to offer all of themselves – their time, talent, and treasure – to God. This complete surrender, born from a deep trust in the divine, allows God to work in ways unimaginable. "He will not leave you without," Adam affirms, highlighting the reciprocal nature of giving and receiving when one fully trusts in God's provision.

Adam Jarosz's journey with Righteous Co. is a powerful narrative of how faith, when actively lived out, can transform not only a business but also the lives it touches. It's a reminder that true success lies not in worldly accumulation, but in surrendering to a divine calling, trusting in God's plan, and allowing Him to sharpen you into a vessel for His righteous purpose.

Action Steps for Your Righteous Path:

Consider these steps to align your business with your divine calling:

  1. Identify Your "Why": Reflect on the deepest purpose behind your business. Is it aligned with a higher calling?
  2. Practice Intentional Surrender: Regularly dedicate time to prayer and reflection, consciously surrendering your business decisions and anxieties to God.
  3. Embrace the "Iron Sharpens Iron" Principle: Seek out mentors, coaches, and peer groups that challenge and refine you, both professionally and spiritually.
  4. Prioritize Spiritual Renewal: Schedule intentional breaks and moments of solitude, following Jesus' example of retreating to refresh and collect yourself.
  5. Trust in Divine Provision: Even in challenging times, choose to trust that God will provide for your needs as you faithfully pursue His will.
