Kisha Jones, a spiritual midwife and testament to turning pain into purpose, has built a remarkable publishing empire. My Bible Promise Book was born from both divine inspiration and a profound personal loss. Her journey is a powerful narrative of resilience, faith, and the unwavering belief that our deepest wounds can become the wellspring of our greatest impact.
For 25 years, Kisha has been a book publisher, a path she stumbled upon shortly after marrying her husband. What began as a mission to publish her husband's spiritual poems, after a frustrating experience with a slow publisher, quickly blossomed into a divine calling. "Lord, show us how to get his book done," she prayed, and the answer came: "Jones Publishing Network." With no prior experience, Kisha dove into research, navigating the dial-up internet of 2001, and within two weeks, her husband's book was a reality. This initial success, fueled by faith and an innate business savvy, was just the beginning.
Clients, drawn by word-of-mouth, soon came knocking, asking Kisha to publish their books. She became a personal book publisher for authors from all walks of life – TV show hosts, psalmist, pastors, and leaders. Yet, the journey wasn't without its frustrations. Dealing with clients who tried to lowball her services, Kisha once told her husband she was ready to quit and get a traditional job. His response ignited a fire within her: "Kisha, nobody publishes books the way you publish books." This affirmation solidified her understanding that God had gifted her with a unique ability, one she hadn't learned in college, but through divine download and the guiding scripture of Psalm 68:11: "The Lord gave the word; great was the company of those that published it."
The pivotal shift in Kisha's ministry came in 2018 when her husband, while planting a church in Kalamazoo, Michigan, sought a customizable pocket-sized Bible promise book for first-time visitors. Such a product didn't exist. "The Lord told my husband, 'You start the Bible Promise Book with your publishing company,'" Kisha recounts. This led to the creation of a unique, customizable Bible promise book, featuring 58 topics and scriptures close to their hearts. Without even a website, their first order was a staggering 1,000 copies from the world's largest Christian gift shop, a testament to God's provision and the innovative nature of their product.
Then came 2019, a year that would forever alter Kisha's life. The sudden loss of her 8-year-old daughter, Brooke, plunged her into unimaginable grief. Yet, even in the depths of sorrow, Kisha refused to let her pain become her prison. "If you don't turn your pain into purpose, your pain will become your prison," she asserts. This profound conviction propelled her forward, not just to survive, but to thrive. She began grief coaching, speaking at conferences, and pouring into others, carrying Brooke's legacy forward.
Brooke, a child of extraordinary faith, had prophesied Kisha's unique calling one year earlier. "Mommy, God says that you are the best inventor of books," Brooke had declared when she was seven. At the time, Kisha, a publisher, didn't fully grasp the depth of that prophecy. But in 2021, three years after the launch of the Bible Promise Book company, God unveiled the full scope of Brooke's words. On January 5th, 2021, while sitting with her husband watching football, Kisha received a divine download: "Now create a Bible promise book and put their name in the scripture." This led to the creation of "My Bible Promise Box," an interactive, personalized book where the customer's name is woven into scriptures 566 times, along with vision board pages, affirmations, and goal-setting tools. It was an invention, a coaching box designed to empower and transform lives. Kisha completed the entire 316-page book in just two weeks, a feat she attributes solely to God's urgent anointing.
The "My Bible Promise Box" expanded to include women's, married couples', and men's versions, reaching almost all 50 states and internationally. The impact was undeniable, with customers sharing their unboxing experiences and returning for more. Kisha's identity as a "spiritual midwife" became even more pronounced. "I'm here to help you give birth to your dreams," she would tell her clients, and now, she was birthing the very things God had shown her.
The outpouring of divine inspiration didn't stop there. Two months after Brooke's passing, God instructed Kisha to write a grief book for parents who had lost a child. This led to a series of four devotional books, each written within four months, addressing the loss of a child, spouse, parent, and loved one. Kisha, who never saw herself as an author, now has over 111 books, with plans to translate them into Spanish, totaling 222 titles. Her prolific writing, she explains, is not due to her being a brilliant writer, but because she "made a decision to give God permission to use my pain."
Kisha's ministry has expanded globally, with speaking engagements in Paris, Belgium, Johannesburg, Zambia, and South Africa. Her core message centers on resilience and overcoming adversity, teaching people how to turn their pain into purpose by shifting their perception and perspective. "You have a perception and you have a perspective," she explains. "How things started to change for me was because my inward perception changed... Now my outward perspective changed." She emphasizes that blaming God for life's tragedies only elongates the healing process. "God is a giver of life, not a taker of life," she states, highlighting the distinction between God taking a loved one and God receiving them into heaven.
Kisha's life is a living testament to the power of choice. Every day, she chooses joy over despair, purpose over pain. "I'm much more useful to God healed than not healed," she declares. Her journey inspires countless individuals to not park at their pain, but to keep driving, even if it's at two miles an hour. She reminds us that there's someone on the other side of the world waiting for our healing, waiting for what's on the inside of us. Kisha Jones is not just a publisher; she is a beacon of hope, a spiritual midwife, and a living example of how God can transform our deepest wounds into a powerful platform for His glory.
