From Kitchen Table to Kingdom Impact: The Madrigals' Journey of Faith-Led Business

In a world increasingly driven by digital noise and transactional exchanges, Javie and Jessica Madrigal, founders of New Local Marketing, offer a refreshing and profoundly impactful approach to business. Their journey, rooted in deep faith and a commitment to genuine connection, transforms the traditional client-agency relationship into a powerful conduit for personal and spiritual growth. This is not just about marketing; it's about ministry, lived day-to-day around kitchen table business decisions.

Beyond the Boardroom: The Power of Kitchen Table Conversations

The Madrigals specialize in serving brick-and-mortar businesses, from auto repair shops to restaurants, helping them navigate the complex landscape of modern marketing. But their unique differentiator lies in their willingness to go beyond surface-level business discussions. As Jessica explains, "We ask a lot of questions... we don't know what we don't know." This curiosity leads them quickly to "kitchen table conversations" – raw, vulnerable discussions about a business owner's deepest challenges, fears, and aspirations. Javie emphasizes, "We want it to be very authentic and very, very vulnerable because we believe that's where the Holy Spirit can enter that conversation."

These aren't just business problems; they're often deeply personal struggles tied to livelihood, family, and purpose. By creating a safe space for such vulnerability, the Madrigals open a door for divine intervention. They've witnessed clients, initially seeking marketing solutions, find answers to questions about their faith or receive a renewed sense of purpose for their business. "We're even praying over physical spaces," Jessica shares, highlighting their commitment to taking ground for the Kingdom in the marketplace.

The 'Why' That Fuels Everything

A core tenet of their approach is helping business owners rediscover their 'why.' Beyond financial gain, they challenge clients to connect with the deeper purpose of their work. "If you're not waking up with passion as a business owner, because it's got to be bigger than more money or my kids," Jessica asserts. This profound understanding of purpose not only fuels resilience during challenging times but also shapes marketing strategies that resonate authentically with customers. In an era where people buy from people, not just brands, understanding the heart behind a business is paramount.

Spiritual Disciplines: Anchoring the Business in Faith

The Madrigals' ability to operate at this deep level is underpinned by their personal spiritual disciplines. Their day begins with intentional time with God – Bible study, prayer, and seeking divine guidance. Javie describes it as "coming to our kitchen table with God." This daily alignment sets the tone for every interaction, enabling them to see clients through God's eyes. Jessica recounts practical instances where God has equipped her with specific answers for client challenges, sometimes hours before she even knew the question would arise. "He literally has equipped me with answers for things I'll need later the same day," she marvels.

They also pray before every client call, asking God for divine downloads – insights into strategies, branding, and even specific solutions. "These are your children, God. Like, what do you want for them?" is their guiding prayer, recognizing their business as an extension of God's work.

The 'Yes' That Changed Everything: A Story of Obedience and Surrender

Perhaps the most compelling testament to their faith-led decision-making is the story of their business transformation. For over a decade, they had poured their lives into a company called Salted Orange. It was their "baby," a source of pride and purpose, with visions and promises from God attached to its future. Then, God asked them to "kill" it.

"I want you to get rid of this business," the divine instruction came. After two months of wrestling, tears, and internal conflict, they finally surrendered. Within 48 hours, God downloaded a new vision, a new name – New Local Marketing – and a complete strategy. It was a profound act of obedience, akin to Abraham's willingness to sacrifice Isaac. "Because we were willing to say yes when it made no sense at all, that was one of the hardest decisions I think we've ever made," Jessica reflects. The outcome? Increased income, opened doors, and a deeper alignment that healed and elevated every aspect of their business.

Discerning God's Voice: Permissive Grace and Practical Wisdom

For those grappling with discerning God's will, the Madrigals offer practical wisdom. They acknowledge the struggle of differentiating between one's own desires and divine leading. Their approach involves taking emotion out of the equation, seeking confirmation through the Word, prayer, and often, through others. Jessica shares a powerful shift in her prayer life: instead of waiting for a 'yes' from God on something biblical and aligned with their direction, she now assumes it's permissive unless He says 'no.' This proactive, faith-filled stance allows for greater movement and trust.

Generosity with Boundaries: Fueling the Overflow

The Madrigals' faith also informs their generosity, but with a crucial understanding: generosity must flow from an overflow, not an empty cup. Jessica candidly admits past mistakes of over-volunteering and treating their business like a charity, leading to burnout and resentment. God's recent guidance has been clear: establish structures, processes, and systems – "coffers" – that can be filled, allowing them to serve from a place of strength and sustainability. This ensures that their primary calling to family is honored, and their business can truly be a ministry without detriment.

A Call to Integrated Faith and Work

For those contemplating integrating their faith into the marketplace, Javie and Jessica offer a simple yet profound encouragement: surrender. Surrender your ideas, your will, and your perceived outcomes to God. Jessica emphasizes, "You don't need to know exactly what that looks like... You don't need to do anything except to say yes and God, what are you going to do?" The key is to be authentic, to be a light, and to trust that God will reveal Himself through your actions and interactions, often in ways you don't even realize.

In a world yearning for genuine connection and purpose, the Madrigals demonstrate that business, when surrendered to God, can be a powerful force for transformation – one kitchen table conversation at a time.
