Laura Scheidhauer, founder of LHS Consulting LLC, embodies a powerful testament to faith-driven entrepreneurship. After nearly three decades as a choral music educator, a career she deeply loved and considered her identity, the unexpected arrival of COVID-19 and the subsequent shutdown of choirs prompted a profound shift. “God just said, I have something else for you,” Laura shares, recounting the pivotal moment that set her on a new path.
This journey led her to discover Giant Worldwide, a leadership development program whose biblically-based principles resonated deeply. Laura describes it as “temperament theory on steroids,” a powerful framework that not only transformed her personal life and family dynamics but also became the foundation of her new business. Her husband became a staunch supporter after witnessing the tangible impact of these tools.
Laura's business is intentionally rooted in faith, though not overtly so on her website. She believes in equipping God's people to discover their unique purpose and lead with confidence and peace. Her guiding scripture, Deuteronomy 8:17-18, is a constant reminder: “Don't think to yourself, 'My strength and abilities have provided all this prosperity for me.' Remember the Lord your God, he is the one who gives you the strength to be prosperous.” This verse anchors her, reminding her that her business is God's, and He will bring the right clients.
This conviction has been crucial in overcoming the common entrepreneurial fear of openly expressing faith in the marketplace. Laura realized that if her faith deterred potential clients, they weren't the right fit anyway.
Every decision, from launching her business to planning new offerings, is bathed in prayer. Laura strives for a daily “call up,” reminding herself of her identity in Christ and her calling to be a “liberator to others” and to “equip faith-based leaders.” This practice helps her navigate the tension between diligent work and trusting God's provision, understanding that while she must do her part, God ultimately opens the doors.
Laura openly discusses the challenges she faced, including a period where she felt “knocked down” by careless actions within a Christian environment. This experience, however, highlighted the critical importance of “champions” – leaders who celebrated her strengths and provided opportunities for her to thrive. This experience fuels her passion to be a champion for others through her work.
Her faith also profoundly influences how she invests her time and resources. Beyond financial tithing, she believes in tithing her time and talents. She emphasizes the importance of discerning where God uniquely calls one to invest, whether through volunteering on a board or supporting a specific charity. “You can't support everything,” she advises, “so invest wisely.”
For aspiring faith-driven entrepreneurs, Laura offers powerful advice: “Pray, pray, pray, pray, pray.” She encourages them to launch with confidence, knowing that if God has called them, they “can't fail.” She stresses the importance of surrounding oneself with a supportive community, citing her involvement with the “Rooted Sisters,” a group of Christian businesswomen who provide prayer, encouragement, and accountability. Laura concludes with a powerful charge: “Abide in me and I abide in you, and you will produce much fruit. So stay rooted in him, in your business, and you will produce much fruit. You will flourish.” She believes that revival will come through the marketplace, urging entrepreneurs to “go boldly” with the armor of God.
Laura Scheidhauer's journey is a compelling narrative of trusting God's redirection, building a business on biblical principles, and boldly living out her faith to empower others to flourish.
